Randy Shannon is one hard nose hombre.After being hire as the head coach, Randy strip the team of the names on the back of there jerseys.Since,the names was place back on the uniform .Randy has always shown toughness due to being raises in Liberty City a poverty striking section of Miami. He attended Norland High School and earned All-State and honorable mention All-American recognition from Street & Smith's as a senior linebacker at Norland. He also lettered in basketball, averaging 19 points a game, and he competed in the triple jump on the track and field team.
Randy Shannon coach the Hurricanes to a 4-4 record last season in the ACC conference games ,and 6-10 over the past two season.This season with his second year quarterback (Jacory Harris),Shannon is hope for more success. And winning the ACC title is a start.Here a quote for Randy "We're going to do a lot of great things here for the community, for the school, and for the football program," he says. In 2005, led the nation in pass defense (152.17 ypg) and pass efficiency (89.48 rating) and finished fourth in total defense (270.08 ypg) and scoring defense (14.25 points)
2004 pass defense ranked ninth in the country
2003 defense was fourth nationally in pass efficiency defense (96.16 rating), second in total defense (257.5 ypg) and fourth in scoring defense (15.1 ppg)
Led the nation's No. 1-ranked defense in pass defense and pass efficiency defense during the 2002 season
Winner of the 2001 Frank Broyles Award as national assistant coach of the year
Led the nation's No. 1-ranked defense in turnover margin, scoring defense and pass efficiency defense during Miami's 2001 national championship season
